The Complete NAIA Eligibility Center Registration Guide: Rules, Requirements, and Step-by-Step Walkthrough

To play sports at any of the 250 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) member institutions, every incoming first-time college athlete must register at PlayNAIA.org. The NAIA represents over 87,000 student-athletes across 20 conferences and awards more than $1.3 billion in athletic scholarships annually. Registration requires creating a student profile, paying a registration fee ($100 for domestic high school seniors, $135 for domestic transfers, and $160 for international students; fee waivers are available for eligible high school students), submitting official academic transcripts, and documenting your athletic history.

Unlike NCAA Division I and Division II, the NAIA does not use sliding scale formulas for high school seniors. Instead, incoming freshmen must satisfy at least two of three foundational criteria: a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, graduation in the top 50% of their graduating high school class, or a minimum qualifying test score of 18 on the ACT or 970 on the SAT (math and critical reading sections). Alternatively, students who achieve an overall cumulative high school GPA of 2.3 or higher qualify immediately without standardized test scores or class rank.

The NAIA is a major powerhouse for collegiate athletics, offering direct pathways to collegiate competition with streamlined initial eligibility guidelines compared to the NCAA.
